Avishka Fernando is a Sri Lankan top-order batter known for his attacking approach and ability to put bowlers under pressure. Born on April 5, 1998, he developed through Sri Lanka's youth and domestic cricket systems before making his mark in international cricket. His natural timing, powerful shots, and willingness to attack in the early overs make him a useful option in limited-overs matches.

Fernando has represented Sri Lanka in international white-ball cricket and has produced several influential performances at the top of the order. His role is particularly important when the team needs quick runs during the powerplay or a batter capable of changing the momentum of an innings. His selection for the October 2026 ODI tri-series gives him another opportunity to contribute to Sri Lanka's preparations for the 2027 Cricket World Cup.
